Master in International Legal Practice (LLM) from the Instituto de Empresa (IE) in Madrid, Spain. He has the homologation of his law degree in Spain.
He has taken continuing education courses at the Universidad de los Andes in: (i) Regulation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs); (ii) Data Protection and Accountability; (ii) Tax M&As: mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations from Taxation; and, (iv) the Update Course on Competition Law in public Electric Power and Gas services at the Externado de Colombia University.
Tomás has worked as a lawyer in the Legal Department of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and in important local and international law firms (Lloreda Camacho & Co. Abogados, Norton Rose Fulbright) as a senior associate. He was also a founding partner of Yepes, Ángel & Calderón, and later of Calderón Mejía Abogados.
He has published several articles in various legal journals, newspapers, and online platforms on topics related to M&As, telecommunications, competition, taxation, corporate, and foreign exchange law.
He is currently an active member of the Colombian Institute of Tax Law (ICDT) and the Center for Tax Studies of Antioquia (CETA).
